Gael Clichy delighted with opening victory

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy admits that he was delighted with the club's 4-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday evening.

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy believes that his side delivered a complete performance against Newcastle United on Monday evening.

City dominated the Magpies to run away with a 4-0 triumph at the Etihad Stadium, but Clichy has admitted that he was just pleased to earn three points.

The 28-year-old told Sky Sports News: "When you play for a team like City, you always want the three points.

"The ideal game is to play attractive football, score goals and create chances but at the end of the day, the most important thing is three points.

"On Monday night we did that, with the way we played as well. We can be happy with the result."

The France international has made 57 Premier League appearances for City.
