Liverpool want Christian Benteke to replace Rickie Lambert?

Aston Villa hitman Christian Benteke is on Liverpool's radar as Brendan Rodgers plans to bolster his misfiring strike force, according to reports.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is being lined up for a £30 summer move to Liverpool, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been in impressive form since Tim Sherwood took charge at Villa Park, netting six goals in his last five games.

His recent displays have caught the attention of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who is willing to part with £30m and Rickie Lambert - who Aston Villa tried to sign in January - in order to tempt the Belgian striker to Anfield, reports The Metro.

Benteke, who was recently nominated for the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for April, joined Villa from Genk for £7m in 2012.
