Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers: 'January is a difficult market to spend in'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that he will not buy players for the sake of it in January's "difficult market".

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he will not rush to buy players before the close of the January window just for the sake of it.

The Merseyside outfit, who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, have not added to their squad so far this month.

Rodgers has admitted that the club have been tracking Basel winger Mohamed Salah for some time, but Chelsea appear to have beaten them to his signature by agreeing a deal for the 21-year-old.

"It is a very difficult market," Rodgers told talkSPORT. "It is hard to bring in players that can improve the team, especially in this window. I'd rather wait and look at our young players than bring in one or two squad players."

Liverpool will turn their focus to the FA Cup this weekend as they plan to take on Bournemouth in the fourth round tomorrow.
