Brendan Rodgers coy on Fabio Borini future

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers refuses to be drawn on Fabio Borini's future at the club.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to be drawn on Fabio Borini's Anfield future.

The Italian forward is currently on a season-long loan deal at Sunderland and has impressed with a series of eye-catching displays during his time with the Black Cats.

Asked if Borini would be returning for next season, the Northern Irish boss was coy in his response.

He told reporters: "Fabio went out to get games, go on loan and play more regularly than he was playing here.

"He has done that and showed with some of the goals he has scored - particularly against the big teams - the qualities that he has. The goal he scored in the Capital One Cup final (against Manchester City) was a fantastic goal.

"He has gone away to get experience of playing. Fabio will come back in the summer and he will be better for having played that season. And we'll review it from there."

Borini will be ineligible when Sunderland travel to Anfield on Wednesday.
