Liverpool's Joe Allen: 'Three points against Swansea City were vitally important'

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen insists that the three points gained from their victory over Swansea City are "vitally important".

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has insisted that every point is "vitally important" as the Merseyside outfit try to finish the Premier League season in the top four.

The Reds stretched their advantage in fourth place to six points in the table following Sunday's 4-3 victory over Swansea City.

"When you play a day later than your rivals, you sometimes feel the pressure of that situation, but we were as confident as ever that we could get the result and bridge the gap," Allen told the club's official website.

"The manager congratulated us because three points is three points. At this stage of the season, it's vitally important, especially with the results over the weekend.

"People talk about not playing your best but taking the three points. We certainly did that."

Liverpool are now four points behind leaders Chelsea.
