UEFA reveal that they have begun investigations into alleged racist chanting during two Euro 2012 matches.

UEFA have revealed that investigations are underway regarding alleged racist chanting during two Euro 2012 matches.

The first incident is said to have taken place during the opening day of the tournament as the Czech Republic took on Russia.

Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie has since indicated that he was aware of chants being aimed in his direction by sections of Russian supporters.

The other player that has been the subject of alleged abuse is Italy and Manchester City's Mario Balotelli, who is believed to have been taunted during his nation's 1-1 draw with Spain.

"Following the provision of new independent information today, regarding the two cases of alleged racist chanting in the Spain-Italy and Russia-Czech Republic matches, UEFA is now conducting further investigations," read a statement from the governing body.

No official complaints have been lodged with UEFA by Italy or the Czech Republic.
