Inter Milan veteran Javier Zanetti has called for "common sense" with regards to Wesley Sneijder's dispute with the club.

The Dutch midfielder looks to be on his way out of the San Siro after being told that he will not play unless he agrees to a pay cut.

Sneijder reportedly earns £200,000 per week and the Nerazzurri are believed to be keen on negotiating a longer contract for less money.

Coach Andrea Stramaccioni has insisted that the 28-year-old is not being considered for selection for technical reasons, but Zanetti said that he has been performing well on the training pitch.

"In this economic crisis, we need some common sense," Football Italia quotes Zanetti as saying. "After that, the decision is up to Sneijder.

"He is going through a difficult time, but he will decide what is best for him.

"I do not know if Stramaccioni will call him up, but I can tell you that he is training well."

Sneijder joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2009.
