Having put such a stamp on the European Championships through the years, Sports Mole sizes up Germany's chances this summer.

Germany's route to the Euro 2012 finals couldn't have been more emphatic as they won every game of their qualifying campaign, scoring 34 goals in the process.

Understandably, such blistering form has the three-time winners up there amongst the favourites to clinch the title yet again this year.

However, having not won a trophy since 1996, can this summer provide another glorious chapter in their footballing history?

Group: B

Joachim Low: With his edgy features and perfectly-tousled hair, one could be forgiven for thinking that the 52-year-old Low was an elder statesman of the fashion world. Instead he is hoping to win his first honours with Germany since taking over in 2006.

Players to watch:

Philipp Lahm: As reliable in defence as attack, Lahm is the sort of player that only Germany could have produced.

Mesut Ozil: Having enjoyed a successful season in Spain with Real Madrid, this slippery customer has the ability to unlock any defence.

Mario Gotze: Quick, creative and full of natural talent, 19-year-old Gotze has the chance to really light up the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

Previous best: Winners 1972, 1980, 1996
