Everton coach David Weir believes that new signing Steven Naismith will fit in at the club following his move from Rangers.

Everton coach David Weir has insisted that new signing Steven Naismith will have no problem fitting in at the club following his move from Rangers.

The 25-year-old Scotland international signed a four-year deal with the Toffees on Wednesday after refusing to transfer his contract to the 'newco' version of troubled Rangers.

"He is obviously a talented lad and has played at a great level with Rangers in Europe and Scotland and he is an attacking player capable of scoring goals," Weir told evertonTV.

"He is at a good stage in his career and his best years are ahead of him. I think he is a good all-round footballer. He's a fit lad and works hard, which is a necessity at Everton, he is good in the air and has a lot of good attributes.

"He will fit in no problem. There are people here who have been here a long time and they will let him know how important this club is to people and he will take that on board and get on with his job."

Naismith scored nine goals in 15 games for the Gers last season before he was ruled out for the campaign with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October.
