Everton boss Roberto Martinez: 'We got carried away after six-game unbeaten run'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez admits that the team got 'carried away' during their six-game unbeaten run, which was ended by Aston Villa last weekend.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that his players got 'carried away' with their six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit's positive run came crashing down last Saturday when relegation battlers Aston Villa sealed a 3-2 victory on home turf.

"You do, you do [get carried away]," Martinez told the Liverpool Echo. "I think it's only human that you start to feel like you're on top of the world, you feel that you're performing well and that you just need to carry on turning up and getting the results.

"Clearly that was a reality check. A team like us, we need to be perfect in every game that we go into."

Everton are currently 11th in the table with three games left to play.
