Everton boss Roberto Martinez not thinking about next season

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that it would be a "big mistake" to start looking to next season already.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that it would be a "big mistake" to start looking towards next season already.

The Merseyside outfit are currently 13th in the Premier League table following an inconsistent campaign, which had them lingering close to relegation.

Wins over Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers have stretched the Toffees to nine points clear of the drop, and Martinez is determined to end the club's season on a high.

"It would be a big mistake [to look to next season]. There are 24 points still to play for and we want to fight to get as high as possible in the table. We have five home games and three away games and we want to make the most of that home advantage," he told reporters.

"We have won our last two games, which have given us confidence and belief, and we want to continue that momentum."

This weekend, Everton will take on Southampton at Goodison Park.
