Phil Jagielka urges patience over transfers

Centre-back Phil Jagielka tells Everton fans to remain patient as they chase more players before the end of the transfer window.

Everton defender Phil Jagielka has told fans to remain patient as the club chase new signings before the end of the window.

The Toffees have spent approximately £5m so far and have signed four players, including Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu.

Jagielka told the Liverpool, Echo: "We understand the fans are frustrated because we've not spent a lot this summer. The excitement of the transfer window and it comes up and you're hoping the guy presses your team and you see the green arrow and there's this talk and all sorts.

"I understand all that but the way the window is that's probably not going to happen until the last two days of this month. We're not a team that spends £50m on someone whenever they want. Every million counts."

Everton host Manchester City this afternoon.
