Gullit: Germany, Spain Euro 2012 favourites

Ruud Gullit does not believe that England have enough key players to win the European Championships.

Ruud Gullit has played down England's chances of success in the upcoming European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

The former Dutch international has blamed the Premier League's foreign players for the national team's inability to impose themselves on the major tournaments.

Gullit also believes that it will be difficult for his country to win the tournament, with Germany's 3-0 victory in Hamburg highlighting the gulf in class.

"In English football, there is a problem," said the 49-year-old. "The most important positions in the major clubs are always occupied by foreigners.

"Accordingly, the British are without, for example, a really good playmaker. But of course they still have very good players."

Gullit believes that Germany and Spain have to be considered favourites for the title.

"The Germans are obviously the favourites, together with the Spanish. It will be difficult for the Netherlands," he added.

England play the Netherlands in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday.
