Andrea Barzagli: 'Team effort can stop Wayne Rooney'

Italy defender Andrea Barzagli believes that all of his teammates will have to contribute in stopping Wayne Rooney tomorrow night.

Andrea Barzagli believes that the whole of the Italian team will have to contribute if the threat of England striker Wayne Rooney is to be nullified tomorrow evening.

Rooney made a goalscoring return following a two-match suspension during England's 1-0 win over co-hosts Ukraine on Tuesday evening.

Having identified the Manchester United frontman as a major threat, Barzagli has insisted that his side are ready to deal with the danger that he poses.

"As a team we can stop him, we are four at the back, so an effort from the entire team is needed," the Juventus defender told reporters.

"We know just how good Rooney is and how England are as a side. We need to be 100% focused to counteract this player."

The winner of tomorrow's tie will face Germany in the semi-finals on Thursday.
