Former Dundee striker Alan Cousin dies, aged 78

Dundee announce that former striker Alan Cousin, who also played for Hibernian and Falkirk, has died at the age of 78.

Former Dundee striker Alan Cousin has died at the age of 78, the club has announced.

Cousin spent 11 years at Dens Park and helped the club win the Scottish League title in 1962 under Bob Shankly thanks to his 19 goals that season.

He made 384 appearances for the Dark Blues, scoring 141 goals, and was inducted into the club's Hall of Fame in 2011.

Cousin also played in Dundee's run to the semi-finals of the European Cup and scored in the away leg in a 5-1 loss against AC Milan, becoming the first British player to net at San Siro.

He subsequently spent four years at Hibernian ahead of a move to Falkirk before announcing his retirement in 1970.
