Alexander Sorloth relieved to net first Crystal Palace goal

Forward Alexander Sorloth admits that he was relieved to have finally netted his first Crystal Palace goal in the EFL Cup fixture at Swansea City.

Forward Alexander Sorloth has admitted that netting his first goal for Crystal Palace has left him "very happy".

Sorloth has made just four starts and three substitute outings since moving to Palace in January, but the striker made his first impact at the club by netting the only goal of the game in the EFL Cup fixture with Swansea City on Tuesday night.

The Norway international has had to play second fiddle to Christian Benteke, and the 22-year-old has acknowledged that he was delighted to get a full 90 minutes of first-team action.

Sorloth told Palace TV: "I'm very happy. It's always nice to get the first goal out of the way and hopefully I can score more goals from here.

"It's good for fitness primarily [to play 90 minutes] and to get the playing time is good for confidence. Getting a goal as well means I'm very happy."

Sorloth will hope to feature when Palace host Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
