Chelsea have 'no intention' of triggering their option to buy clause for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, according to a report.

Chelsea reportedly have 'no intention' of triggering their option to buy clause for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

The Spain international arrived at Stamford Bridge with a point to prove on deadline day, but he endured a nightmare first 45 minutes against Aston Villa on his Premier League debut.

Saul was hooked at half time in that encounter, and he has since been an unused substitute in his side's last four Premier League games.

Chelsea do have the option to purchase the 26-year-old permanently for a fee of £30m next summer, but La Razon claims that the Blues are not prepared to retain his services.

The report adds that Thomas Tuchel instead has his eyes on Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic, and as things stand Saul will head back to Atletico at the end of the season.

Saul has made three appearances for Chelsea across all competitions so far, and his contract with Atletico does not expire until the summer of 2026.
