Jose Enrique says that Liverpool are focused on the Carling Cup quarter-final clash against Chelsea.

Liverpool full-back Jose Enrique has stated that the Reds will not use the fixture pileup as an "excuse" regardless of the Carling Cup result against Chelsea tomorrow.

The Merseyside club travel to Stamford Bridge 48 hours after securing a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at Anfield.

While boss Kenny Dalglish aired his frustrations at the Football League's refusal to put back the quarter-final clash, Enrique thinks that the Reds will just have to get on with the matter at hand.

"If the manager decides I have to play I play," said Enrique. "The Premier League and Football League didn't make a good decision.

"We played on Sunday and have to play in another 48 hours, whereas Chelsea played on Saturday. This is not normal. It just happens in England.

"It is no good for us because we play against Chelsea away and it is hard to win, and normally when you play 48 hours after a game you are more tired. But there will be no excuses. We can still win there and will try to get that win."

Both sides are expected to tinker with the teams that competed in the Premier League at the weekend.
