Frank de Boer is expecting Lyon to give his Ajax team a difficult match this evening.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer believes that Lyon will provide his side with a tough match this evening.

De Boer takes his side to France knowing that a win or a score draw will secure their qualification to the next round of the Champions League.

Ajax are currently ten points adrift of leaders AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league and De Boer hopes that tonight's European match will prove to be a welcome distraction.

"We saw a very good Lyon team in the first game (which finished 0-0). Besides that, some important players have just come back into their team, so it won't be an easy game," De Boer told a press conference.

"We'll do our best to get a good result and, to do that, we need to stay focused for the whole game, individually and collectively. For example, we can't make the same mistakes that we did against NAC at the weekend, where we conceded two goals in the last five minutes after we played well for 70 minutes.

"We are in a difficult situation in the league, so a good result against Lyon would be great for the club and our young players."

De Boer became Ajax manager in 2010.
