Brighton manager Gus Poyet says that he would love to manage his country one day.

Brighton manager Gus Poyet has revealed that he would "love" to go into international management one day.

The Uruguayan has guided the Seagulls to the top of the Championship after the first six games of the season, having got them promoted last term.

Despite his success with the South Coast club, the 43-year-old has his eye on the world stage.

"I'd love to manage, for example, my country. But before getting there I have to manage a top-class, high-division club," he told BBC Sussex.

"You need to deal with stars. When you've done that, and maybe won trophies, I'll be ready to go to an international team.

"I believe you need to be of the standards of Fabio Capello. He's been at some of the best teams in the world."

Brighton will hope to still be top of the league on Saturday evening after their trip to Leicester City.
