Matt Tubbs parts company with Bournemouth

Matt Tubbs parts company with Championship leaders Bournemouth after the club cancels his contract by mutual consent.

Matt Tubbs has left Championship leaders Bournemouth after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old striker joined the Cherries in 2012, but he has spent time on loan at Rotherham United, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon in recent seasons.

Tubbs spent the first half of the current campaign at Wimbledon, where he scored 15 goals in 30 games.

"I've always maintained Matt Tubbs is a very good footballer and a scorer of goals," Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"It was always difficult for Matt bearing in mind the system that we play, the competition for places that we have and the step up in level to the Championship.

"This club has moved forward at such a rate and, unfortunately, there are always casualties, but what I will say about Matt Tubbs is that he's a great man, an incredible professional and very dedicated."

Tubbs joined Bournemouth from Crawley Town three years ago.
