Bolton Wanderers players 'to be paid by end of year'

Bolton Wanderers players will reportedly receive their two months of unpaid salaries by the end of the year.

Bolton Wanderers' playing staff will receive their unpaid wages by the end of the year, according to manager Neil Lennon.

The Championship's basement side failed to pay its squad last month after owner Eddie Jones decided to withdraw his financial support pending a sale of the North-West club.

Speaking to reporters today, Lennon confirmed that non-playing staff would be paid next Monday with player wages following the week after.

"They're due to be paid on the 29th," he said. "From what I gather they will get a percentage of the money and the rest will be made up by the PFA [Professional Footballers' Association]. We're hoping the PFA will step in and do their bit so they'll get their full wages for December."

Bolton received a winding-up petition from HMRC over an unpaid tax bill earlier this month but are now unlikely to enter administration and the automatic 12-point league deduction that comes with it.
