Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten insists that he has no plans to retire at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten has revealed that he wants to extend his contract with the club beyond the end of the season.

The 35-year-old's current deal expires this summer, but the German has insisted that he can still perform at the highest level.

"Will I extend in June? I hope so. My wish is to finish my career at the club," he told L'Equipe.

"Every day I am fighting against 20 or 25-year-old guys and I have to be playing at their level."

Van Buyten has also played for Manchester City and Marseille.
