Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has urged the club to reach an agreement with Arjen Robben over a new contract.
The Dutch winger's current deal at the Allianz Arena is due to expire in the summer of 2013, leading to speculation that he could be leaving Germany in the summer.
However, Kroos believes that Bayern should be doing all they can to prevent his teammate from heading for the exit.
"We know that he can put in performances like he has done in recent weeks. That's why he can always be an important player for us. There should not even be a discussion about his future," Kroos told TZ.
"You have to look at the general picture. You can't say after one bad game that he should leave, and then stress after a good game that he deserves a new deal all of a sudden.
"You should have a general opinion of a player and then decide whether he should stay or go."
Reports yesterday claimed that the two parties were nearing a conclusion to discussions.
