Franz Beckenbauer: Borussia Dortmund are Bundesliga favourites

Ex-Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer says that rivals Borussia Dortmund are now favourites for Bundesliga title after 2-0 win over Nuremberg.

Franz Beckenbauer believes that Borussia Dortmund are now favourites to lift the Bundesliga title.

Friday's 2-0 victory over Nuremberg saw the defending champions extend their unbeaten league run to 14 matches and overtake Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, the four-time European champions had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Hamburg on Saturday.

Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has gone on record as saying that the Bavarian outfit will lift the trophy in May.

However, in his column for Bild, ex-Bayern president Beckenbauer wrote: "Listen, forget this over-modesty and hide-and-seek games with the motto 'only Bayern will be German champions'.

"Kloppo, you are the current champions, you are now the league leaders and you are the favourites for the title.

"The difficult period begins with the added burden of the Champions League, while Dortmund sit comfortably on the sofa, just as they did last season when they won the title."

Dortmund sit two points clear of Bayern Munich and Schalke.
