Ajax boss Frank de Boer: 'We can beat Barcelona'

Ajax boss Frank de Boer admits that his side will need to be at their best to get a result against Barcelona in the Champions League this evening.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer has insisted that his team can surprise Barcelona in their Champions League clash this evening.

The Dutch side lost 4-0 at the Camp Nou in the group stages last season, but did beat Barca 2-1 in Amsterdam in the return match.

"I want to see much pleasure and joy. We can get a result in this game. Last year [when Ajax defeated Barcelona in Amsterdam] we saw that we can get something from such a match. But, for that, we have to perform at our maximum level," he told uefa.com.

"Barcelona are at a higher level compared to us and have more experience. For every team playing here, it is difficult to collect points, but we will try."

Barcelona have lost just one of their last 28 European games on their own patch.
