Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Inter Milan

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.

Barcelona play host to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday evening still looking to put together a consistent run of form this season.

While the Catalan giants have emerged victorious from their last two La Liga fixtures, they remain in fourth position in the La Liga standings.

Ernesto Valverde also watched his team struggle to avoid defeat during the goalless draw at Borussia Dortmund in the middle of September, a result which leaves no club with any advantage in Group F.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown with the Serie A leaders.

Ansu Fati

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Inter)

While Fati seemingly came through the win against Villarreal with no issues, the teenager did not feature at the weekend due to 'twinges in his knee'. Valverde will assess the winger over the coming days.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 6 (vs. Sevilla)

Dembele was left out of Saturday's meeting with Getafe courtesy of a hamstring problem. Despite Barcelona not disclosing a recovery time, it would appear unlikely that the Frenchman will play any part of the game with Inter.

Jordi Alba

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Inter)

While Alba has been out of contention since suffering a hamstring problem against Dortmund, the left-back could be fit enough to take a place on the substitutes' bench on Wednesday.

Samuel Umtiti

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: October 29 (vs. Real Valladolid)

Having sustained a foot injury while on international duty with France, Umtiti has been ruled out until the latter stages of October. The Frenchman will be aiming to return to the squad for the La Liga fixture with Real Valladolid.

Lionel Messi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Inter)

Messi suffered an issue with his thigh during last week's meeting with Villarreal, which subsequently ruled him out of Saturday's match with Getafe. While there have been conflicting reports regarding his recovery, it would be a surprise if Messi takes a place among the replacements.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no suspension issues for the fixture with the Italian giants.
