Wolverhampton Wanderers to pay £14m for Diogo Jota?

Wolverhampton Wanderers will reportedly attempt to sign Diogo Jota from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal in January.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly prepared to pay £14m to make Diogo Jota's loan move permanent in January.

The 20-year-old striker joined the Midlands outfit from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan over the summer and has made a strong start in English football, scoring seven goals in 12 league games to rank as the Championship's joint-top scorer.

According to The Mirror, Wolves have the option to make Jota's move permanent at the end of the campaign but want to act quickly and get the deal over the line in the winter window instead.

The move would mirror that of winger Helder Costa, who joined Wolves on a season-long loan in summer 2016 but then wrapped up a full-time switch months later for a then-club record fee of £13m.

Jota was on the scoresheet on Saturday as Nuno Espirito Santo's side moved top of the table courtesy of a 2-0 win over old rivals Aston Villa.
