Alan Pardew confirms Jack Wilshere interest

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew reveals that his team are in the running to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan on transfer deadline day.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed that his team are in the running to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan.

The England international is widely expected to leave the Emirates on a short-term deal on deadline day and it is understood that Palace are locked in a three-way battle with Bournemouth and Italian outfit Roma.

It has been reported that Roma are making "significant efforts" to seal Wilshere's signature, but Pardew is hopeful that he can convince the 24-year-old to continue plying his trade in the Premier League.

"Lot of clubs want him and we are one of them. If we could get him it would be the icing on the cake," Pardew told Sky Sports News.

Wilshere, who was left out of Sam Allardyce's first England squad, has only made two substitute appearances for Arsenal this season.
