Arsenal to make £10m Fabian Schar bid?

A report claims that Basel centre-back Fabian Schar is a £10m target for Arsenal, as the Gunners look to add some much-needed depth to their backline.

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a £10m bid to sign Basel defender Fabian Schar when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 22-year-old, who was linked with a move to the Gunners in the summer, is said to be seen as the ideal man to end the club's current defensive problems.

Schar has since admitted that he would be interested in a transfer away from Swiss club Basel, and a report published in The Metro claims that Arsenal may now make an offer.

Borussia Monchengladbach are also rumoured to be interested in the centre-back's services, but he is thought to favour a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Having made his debut for FCB in 2012, Switzerland international Schar has become a key component for club and country, featuring 16 times so far this season.
