Atletico Madrid 'make £18m bid for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil'

Atletico Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Mesut Ozil an escape route from Arsenal with a £18m bid for the out-of-favour midfielder.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly lodged an £18m bid to sign out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Ozil's future at the Emirates Stadium appears uncertain, with the club's highest earner having seemingly fallen out of favour under manager Unai Emery.

The German was left out of the matchday squad entirely for Saturday's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United, with Emery intimating after the match that he did not deserve to play.

El Gol Digital reports that Atletico are looking to offer Ozil an escape route with an £18m approach.

Arsenal are understood to be open to offers for the 30-year-old in order to raise funds for other transfer targets in January.

However, Ozil's wage demands could prove to be a stumbling block in any negotiations, with his current deal at Arsenal worth around £350,000 per week.
