Martin O'Neill admits that he has never had a great relationship with Arsene Wenger.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has said that he has never been on great terms with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

O'Neill, who had several public disagreements with Wenger during his time at Aston Villa, admits that his door will still be open to the Frenchman if he wishes to share a post-match drink at the Stadium of Light this weekend.

"I don't always see eye to eye with him," he said. "But then I don't think he always sees eye to eye with anyone.

"I don't think Arsene has ever taken up the offer of a post-match drink and I've absolutely no problem with that whatsoever, none at all. But it's there if he wants it.

"I understand it's more a British habit and something the foreign managers didn't really share before coming to the Premier League."

O'Neill has won nine of his first 13 games since taking charge at the Stadium of Light.
