Zinedine Zidane expects "very difficult" test against Sporting Lisbon

Zinedine Zidane tells his Real Madrid players that "winning against Atletico means nothing" when it comes to locking horns with Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday evening.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has told his players to put Saturday's victory over Atletico Madrid to the back of their minds as they prepare to advance in the Champions League.

Los Blancos moved four points clear at the top of La Liga by earning an impressive 3-0 win at the home of their rivals, secured courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick in the Spanish capital.

Zidane now takes his side to Portugal knowing that a draw will be enough to ensure a place in the last 16 of UEFA's showpiece competition, but the Frenchman is only thinking about picking up another three-point haul.

"Winning against Atletico means nothing for tomorrow," he told reporters. "We have to start well and if we do that we can get something here, but I'm expecting a very difficult game tomorrow.

"I'm not thinking about first or second place, I am thinking about the players, the club, the team and always doing everything to win the game, nothing more.

"Whatever happens after that then we'll look at the qualifying but most important thing is what we are going to do tomorrow, we'll do everything possible to win. I am not going to calculate anything, and the same for the players."

Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos have both travelled to Lisbon for Tuesday's clash, but Zidane is yet to decide whether either player will feature at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
