Half-Time Report: Wilfried Zaha gives 10-man Crystal Palace lead

Wilfried Zaha scores to give 10-man Crystal Palace a 1-0 lead over Huddersfield at half time.

A Wilfried Zaha strike has given 10-man Crystal Palace a 1-0 lead at half time of their Championship match against Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

The visitors came close early on when Jermaine Beckford latched on to a cross, only to see his header well saved.

Palace then suffered a big blow to their chances when Damien Delaney was shown a straight red card for a high and late tackle on Beckford.

Huddersfield looked to make the most of their numerical advantage and had a glorious chance to do so when Sean Scannell was brought down in the box. The referee pointed to the spot, but Adam Clayton's effort was straight down the middle and easy for Julian Speroni to save.

Speroni was called into action again three minutes later, producing a fine save from Beckford's snapshot.

Glenn Murray almost got an opener for the hosts when he latched onto Jack Hunt's poor backpass before rounding the keeper, but he couldn't squeeze his shot in from a tight angle.

The Eagles did take the lead 10 minutes later, however, as Yannick Bolasie flicked the ball on to Wilfried Zaha, who smashed his near-post strike in off the bar.

Speroni once again prevented Palace from conceding late on in the half, denying Clayton with a good diving stop.
