Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer admits a desire to sign David Jones on a permanent deal.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has revealed that he wants to sign David Jones on a permanent deal this summer.

The former Manchester United midfielder, currently of Wigan Athletic, spent the second part of last season on loan at the Championship outfit. However, he will be a free agent when his Latics contract expires at the end of this month.

Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph: "David was excellent for us at the end of the season so we'll see if we can get something sorted. We're always hopeful but obviously he will have interest from other clubs."

It is understood that Jones wants a return to the Premier League.
