West Ham United's bid for Dimitri Payet accepted by Marseille

Marseille accept a bid from West Ham United for the services of winger Dimitri Payet, but remain confident that he will stay at the club.

Marseille have announced that an offer from West Ham United for winger Dimitri Payet has been accepted.

The 28-year-old, who still has two years left to run on his current deal, is thought to have been the subject of a £14m bid.

Despite giving Payet the green light to join West Ham, Marseille still remain confident that the 14-time capped France international will stay at the Stade Veledrome beyond this summer.

This echoes the views of the player's agent Jacques-Olivier Auguste, who revealed earlier today that staying in France remains a real possibility.

Payet is said to be due to arrive in London later today to undergo a medical before making a final decision on his future.
