Erik Lamela aims to show Tottenham Hotspur fans what he can do next season

Erik Lamela insists that he will prove his worth to Tottenham Hotspur this season after struggling for game time in his debut campaign.

Erik Lamela has insisted that he will show Tottenham Hotspur fans what he is capable of next season.

The Argentine barely featured during his debut season at White Hart Lane due to injuries and a back problem.

Despite reports suggesting that Lamela, who cost Spurs a club-record fee of around £30m last summer, was poised to leave the club, the 22-year-old intends to make a name for himself in the Premier League.

"I feel really good," Lamela told the club's official website. "I feel fit and I hope it will be a good season ahead.

"I hope to show everyone what I can do, especially for the fans and of course for the club. I'm grateful to the fans for their affection, that's very important for me."

Lamela, who joined Spurs from Roma, made 17 appearances for the North London club last season.
