Jermain Defoe's 16th goal of the season allowed Tottenham Hotspur to head into the break of their home match with Norwich City level at 1-1.
Hosting Spurs started the brighter of the two sides and went close to breaking the deadlock in the second minute when Louis Saha saw his low effort parried to safety by Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy.
However, in what was their first real meaningful attack of the match, Norwich took a 13th minute lead. Anthony Pilkington intercepted a poor pass from Younes Kaboul, before going on to slot the ball past Brad Friedel.
Pilkington went close again in the 29th minute, but Friedel matched his effort with a save on this occasion.
Just as it looked as though Spurs would head into the break trailing, Defoe put them level in the 33rd minute. Jake Livermore slotted the ball through to the England international, who lifted the ball over an advancing Ruddy.
Spurs must win the match if they are to regain third spot of rivals Arsenal.
