Real Madrid confirm that they have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich regarding the sale of Xabi Alonso.

Real Madrid have confirmed the sale of midfielder Xabi Alonso to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The former Liverpool star, who announced his decision to retire from international football this week, has spent five years at the Bernabeu.

A statement from the Spanish giants on their official website said: "Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Xabi Alonso.

"The player will speak to the media today at 10am UK time in the Santiago Bernabeu press room, alongside director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueno."

The 32-year-old Spaniard underwent a medical ahead of his move to Germany yesterday.
