Bayern Munich are reportedly on the verge of signing Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso.
It is believed that the German champions, who are managed by Pep Guardiola, are in the market for a new midfielder to provide cover for the injured Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara.
Having considered a number of options, former Liverpool midfielder Alonso has been identified as the ideal player to fill that void by Guardiola, according to La Sexta.
The report adds that an agreement over personal terms has already been reached between the 32-year-old and the Bavarians.
Further speculation has claimed that Madrid would be open to the prospect of selling Alonso, who confirmed his retirement from international football with Spain earlier today.
