Sports Mole picks its 11 top performers in Spain following another pulsating weekend of La Liga action.

Barcelona secured their best-ever start to a La Liga season with victory over Celta Vigo this weekend, but Atletico Madrid's 13-match winning run was ended by Valencia.

Real Madrid also continued their resurgence in form with victory over Real Zaragoza and there was also three points for Rayo Vallecano as they beat Malaga 2-1 on Saturday.

Sunday brought yet more drama as Espanyol moved out of the relegation zone with three points. Meanwhile, there were also wins for Deportivo La Coruna, Real Valladolid and Athletic Bilbao.

Here, Sports Mole selects its 11 best performers following another week of pulsating action in La Liga.

Diego Alves (Valencia)
The 27-year-old doesn't tend to play by the rules and demonstrated that by punching every effort clear during his side's 2-0 win over Atletico. It wasn't pretty but it was effective.

Adil Rami (Valencia)
The Frenchman has had his critics this season, but he answered with a towering display in his side's impressive win over Atletico.
Martin Demichelis (Malaga)
The Argentine was on the losing side against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, but he scored a fine goal and was a tower of strength throughout.
Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
Barcelona already score from everywhere else. But now their defenders? A goal and an energetic display against Celta Vigo ensures his spot in this week's team.

Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao)
The Spanish youngster has struggled for form in the early stages of the season, but he was a constant menace as his side beat Granada.
Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
The Croatian has had his critics since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. However, he added his first goal for the club in an impressive all-round display against Real Zaragoza.
Bruno Gama (Deportivo La Coruna)
The 24-year-old scored the only goal of the match as his side recorded a 1-0 win over Real Mallorca on Sunday. He was fabulous.
Patrick Ebert (Real Valladolid)
The German has been very good for a while now and he added to his goal last Monday with a fine winner against Osasuna on Sunday.

Piti (Rayo Vallecano)
The 31-year-old was just unplayable as he scored two goals in his side's win over Malaga. On this form, he is an absolute handful.
Roberto Soldado (Valencia)
The 27-year-old has not had the best of starts to the season, but his sensational volley against Atletico was worthy of winning any game of football.
David Villa (Barcelona)
The Spanish striker is well and truly back following a long-term injury. A goal and an assist were on the agenda against Celta Vigo.
