Sports Mole dissects the action as Barcelona record a 3-1 home win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

Barcelona made it nine wins from 10 La Liga matches this weekend with a 3-1 victory over Celta Vigo at the Nou Camp.

The home side took the lead after 22 minutes when Adriano converted from close range, but Mario Bermejo levelled for Celta moments later.

Barcelona were back ahead within two minutes, however, as David Villa tapped home from close range and it got worse for Celta midway through the second period when Jordi Alba made it three.

Here, Sports Mole dissects the 90 minutes of action between the two Spanish rivals.

Match statistics:

Barcelona:
Shots 12
On target 6
Possession 70%
Corners 4
Fouls 9

Celta Vigo:
Shots 7
On target 4
Possession 30%
Corners 5
Fouls 11

Was the result fair?

In a word, yes. The possession statistics tell their own story, but it was not entirely straightforward for the home side. It was one of those matches where they remained in second gear throughout and could have raised the tempo at any given moment. The difference in quality between the two sets of players was just vast.

Barcelona's performance

7/10. It was another routine performance from Barcelona. They looked troubled at the back at times, but their attacking threat is just so strong. 11 different players have now scored for them this season, further highlighting the fact that they don't just rely on Lionel Messi to score their goals.

Celta Vigo's performance

6/10. Celta displayed plenty of heart this evening, but they just never had enough quality to really threaten Barcelona. They levelled with a breakaway goal in the opening period, but conceded almost immediately after and it was all uphill from there. However, their success this season will not depend on their results against Barcelona.

Sports Mole's man of the match

David Villa: A goal and an assist capped a fine all-round performance from the Spanish striker. He is well on his way this season.

Biggest gaffe of the match

Messi is a wonderful footballer. However, he should have added Barcelona's third late in the first half when he went through on goal, but the Argentine just could not find a finish.

Referee performance

David Fernandez Borbalan had a fairly straightforward 90 minutes of action. He kept his cards hidden for large periods of the match and let the play flow in the correct areas. We did not see an awful lot from him which is always a good sign.

What next?

Barcelona: The Catalan outfit return to Champions League action against Celtic on Wednesday before travelling to Mallorca in La Liga next Sunday.

Celta Vigo: Celta will attempt to return to winning ways when they travel to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga next Saturday.
