Olimpia are enjoying a great run of form right now on the back of five matches without a loss in all competitions, showcasing their consistency and quality overall.
During that period the squad have managed to score an impressive 16 goals while only conceding four, and that offensive ability is something that could be crucial in this competition.
However, Olimpia had mixed form when it came to their group stage in the Copa Libertadores as they won, drew, and lost two games each which is why they ended up in this particular game.
Julio Caceres guided his team to a third-place finish in Group G, having missed out on a place in the top two because of goal difference.
Olimpia do come into this match with confidence though, after a 4-1 win in their most recent outing, and with four completely different scorers, they have shown that across the squad they can offer a threat.
The visitors dominated their group stage, having only lost a single game out of their six encounters which helped them to finish top overall.
Atletico Goianiense secured four victories and a draw in their other outings, but they do head into this one on the back of consecutive draws.
Jorginho did give them the lead in the recent league game against Ceara, however the squad were unable to hang onto that in order to see the game out as Erick provided an equaliser.
Even with that, the visitors have managed an undefeated run of three games heading into this cup fixture, and that is something they will be attempting to extend.
Atletico had the third most impressive goal difference of any team left in this competition from the group stage, with their attacking and defensive capabilities being on display.

After finding the back of the net as a substitute in their most recent outing Nestor Camacho might be an option from the first whistle this time around for the hosts.
Olimpia will likely go with the same back four though, particularly since both full-backs managed to score in that game as well, providing plenty of attacking qualities to the team.
The visitors were without Wanderson or Dudu in their most recent draw in the league, and each man remains a fitness doubt heading into this particular fixture.
Jefferson was able to retain his place at left-back in that match despite Arthur Henrique being available, but the latter could get some match time in this game.
Olimpia possible starting lineup:
Oliveira; Silva, Alcaraz, Salazar, Gonzalez; Recalde, Torres, Camacho; Candia, Paredes, Villareal
Atletico Goianiense possible starting lineup:
Ronaldo; Henrique, Ramon, Edson, Hayner; Edson, Freitas; Fernando, Jorginho, Airton; Churin
We say: Olimpia 1-1 Atletico Goianiense
While Atletico Goianiense were more dominant in the group stage heading into this round, it is actually the hosts that have stronger form overall recently.
That could lead to them having plenty of confidence for this fixture, but there will no doubt be a closely-fought encounter that could lead to them playing to a draw in this first leg.
