French football journalist Julien Laurens has claimed that Paul Pogba could help Manchester United sign Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann during this summer's transfer window.
Barca are allegedly prepared to part with the France international this summer, and United are said to be weighing up a swoop, even lining up the number seven shirt for the former Atletico Madrid attacker.
Laurens has claimed that he would be "very amazed" if Griezmann joined United.
However, the journalist said that a move to Old Trafford could be possible if the 29-year-old's fellow countryman Pogba, who continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford, was guaranteed to stay with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
"I'd be very amazed [if Griezmann joined United]," Laurens told ESPN FC. "The thing that could appeal for him to go to Manchester United is Paul Pogba. But I'm not sure how much guarantee he will have that Paul Pogba will still be there next season.
"However, if there is a guarantee that Pogba will still be there, then I think Griezmann will love to play with his best mate Pogba at club level as well as the national team. But apart from that, I can't see Griezmann going to Manchester United at all."
Griezmann, who has a contract at Camp Nou until the summer of 2024, has scored 14 times and registered four assists in 37 appearances for Quique Setien's side this season.
