Report: Manchester United players want Diego Simeone

A report claims that a number of senior Manchester United players are confident that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will become the club's next long-term manager.

A selection of senior Manchester United players are reportedly of the opinion that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will become the club's next long-term manager.

Despite speculation surrounding the future of Louis van Gaal, it is widely thought that the Dutchman will remain at Old Trafford until the end of the season, when his position will be more closely scrutinised.

Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have both been linked with the managerial role for the 20-time English champions, but according to The Sun, it is Simeone that the players feel will arrive either this summer or in 2017.

Simeone, who has also been linked with Chelsea, led Atletico to the 2013-14 La Liga title and his team currently sit second in Spain's top flight this term.
