Jose Mourinho: 'Anthony Martial is working harder'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that Anthony Martial is "working harder than before" as he looks to earn his place back in the side.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he has noticed changes in Anthony Martial's work-rate over the past few weeks.

Martial has been in and out of United's starting lineup this season but he put in an improved performance against West Ham United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and capped his night with two goals.

Ahead of Sunday's match with Everton, Mourinho has said that the Frenchman is "working harder than before" and is hopeful that he will have regained some confidence after his double at Old Trafford.

The 53-year-old told reporters: "He is working, he is working harder than before to be honest.

"This kind of match can help his happiness and confidence to be back. When you don't score the happiness isn't there."

Before Wednesday evening, Martial had only netted twice in 13 outings this season.
