David Beckham says that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's goal against Newcastle United on Sunday was "exceptional".

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham has hailed Liverpool striker Luis Suarez for his goal against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The 25-year-old found the target against the Magpies in their 1-1 draw at Anfield in the 67th minute when he controlled a 50-yard pass on his shoulder, rounded goalkeeper Tim Krul and slotted home.

"It was exceptional, to score a goal like that," said Beckham. "The way he brought the ball down, everything about it was amazing. It was amazing to watch it.

"I'm a Manchester United fan, and I don't like to say that about Liverpool players, but all jokes aside his first touch was incredible, his second touch was even better and it was an amazing finish.

"He's a great player, he's capable of doing those things week in and week out."

Suarez has scored seven goals in 10 Premier League matches so far this season.
