Liverpool's Joe Allen to follow Martin Skrtel's example

Joe Allen says that he will follow Martin Skrtel's example as he tries to fight his way back into the Liverpool first team.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has claimed that teammate Martin Skrtel is the "perfect example" to follow as he continues to struggle to get back into the first team.

The Wales international, who recently returned from injury, has made just four appearances for the Reds this season.

Skrtel experienced a similar stint on the sidelines under manager Brendan Rodgers, but has since fought his way back into the starting XI.

"Martin is the perfect example for anyone who feels frustrated or impatient when they are not in the side," Allen told the club's official website

"He's done brilliantly and my idea is to do the same. Dealing with not being in the team can be tough, but it's part and parcel of football."

The Merseyside outfit are currently second in the Premier League table, two points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
