Everton boss David Moyes believes that Phil Jagielka underlined his England credentials with a brave display against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

Everton manager David Moyes has hailed the performance of Phil Jagielka after he helped the Toffees hang on for a point against Queens Park Rangers.

Jagielka marshaled a resolute Everton defence at Loftus Road after they were forced to play the final 30 minutes with ten men following Steven Pienaar's dismissal.

Moyes believes that Jagielka deserved special praise for a spirited display.

He told BBC Sport: "Jagielka played like a true England centre-half today.

"All the boys at the back played well, but I single him out because he got a couple of really good strong blocks in.

"It was a hard fought point. We knew it wasn't going to be easy because QPR have got something to go to move up, but we are quite pleased we got something from the game in the end."

Moyes also expressed his anger with referee Jon Moss for sending off Pienaar, a decision he described as "ludicrous" after the South African received his marching orders for a foul on Esteban Granero.
