Queens Park Rangers' search for a first Premier League win of the season will continue following their 1-1 draw with Everton this evening.

The R's went ahead early in the encounter, but an own goal by Julio Cesar ensured that the Toffees, who had Steven Pienaar sent off, left London with a share of the spoils.

Was the result fair?

Neither of these two teams created enough to argue that they deserved maximum points. Both had decent spells in possession and in particular the two midfields were impressive. However, there was a lack of quality in the final third.

QPR's performance

'Patchy' would be the best word to use. There were times when the R's looked threatening, but then on other occasions they showed just why they are bottom of the Premier League table. They continue to be haunted by their defensive frailties, which resulted in another goal in the against column today.

Everton's performance

Over the whole 90 minutes David Moyes should be impressed with his side's display. They recovered well after a poor start and were the dominant force up until the dismissal of Pienaar. Having gone a man down, they defended with great discipline and broke well on occasions.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Phil Jagielka: The centre-back looked a little shaky for England against Poland but he was back to his solid best this afternoon. Time and time again he put his body on the line to ensure that his team head back up north with a share of the spoils.

Biggest gaffe

This award has to go to the whole of the QPR defence for the goal that they conceded. Nobody decided to pick up Everton centre-back Sylvain Distin from a free kick and the French defender sent his header against the post. The ball rebounded off the post and trickled into the net via a deflection off of goalkeeper Cesar.

Referee performance

The referee's job is arguably the toughest in football and it proved to be that way for Jonathan Moss today. He decided not award a penalty for either side when there was contact, while Pienaar's second yellow card looked harsh. Having said that, it took several replays to come to those conclusions. Moss gets one look at full speed.

What next?

QPR: It doesn't get much easier for Mark Hughes's side, who travel to Arsenal next time out.

Everton: The Toffees will be involved in one of the biggest games in English football next Sunday when Liverpool make the short trip to Goodison Park.
